About and sources
What this site does, where its facts come from and how we keep them current.
What this site does
A free site for people who want to live, work or study in Australia. It compares your situation with the published conditions of visa pathways and has a points test calculator for the skilled visas. It does not recommend a visa and does not predict outcomes.
This is not a government site and it does not give legal or migration advice. Only the Department of Home Affairs decides visa applications. For advice on your own case, ask a registered migration agent (MARA) or an Australian legal practitioner.
Where the facts come from
- The rulebook cites primary or official sources: Department of Home Affairs pages, the Federal Register of Legislation and other Australian government bodies. Secondary sources are never used to mark a fact as confirmed.
- Each fact in the ledger has a source link, a short quote from the source, the date it was read and a status: confirmed, partly confirmed or not confirmed. The Rulebook page lists them all.
- What we write ourselves, such as visa summaries, the points table and guides, is seed content. It shows a draft notice until confirmed ledger entries back each figure.
- Every page shows the date of the rules it reflects.
How news is collected
Headlines come from public news feeds that the publisher’s robots.txt allows. We keep only the title and the link and never copy article text. Home Affairs announcements are on the Home Affairs news page, which we link to.
Languages
English is the reference. Korean is reviewed by our staff. Chinese (Simplified), Hindi, Vietnamese and Nepali are translated by AI and have not yet been reviewed by a native speaker; they are marked and are not indexed by search engines. Longer texts such as guides may appear in English.
Using this information
- Everything here is general information based on public sources. It is not legal advice, not an official service and creates no relationship with any government office or adviser.
- Rules and practice change, and Home Affairs may decide differently from what we describe. We show the date of the rules each page reflects but cannot guarantee that it is complete or current. The official text always prevails.
- Before you apply or decide, check the official source and, where needed, ask a registered migration agent (MARA) or a legal practitioner.
